Half term …

We have reached the end of our first half term in school! The children have settled in so well and grown so much as learners in this time 🙂

Sadly we said goodbye to Mrs Frampton today. We will miss her loads but wish her lots of luck in her new job!

Over the week please have a look back at the phonemes the children have learnt so far, watch the video link on the ‘welcome’ page of this blog or have a go at this fun balloon phonics game….

You will also find a name writing card in your child’s bookbag. We have been using these in school and the children are amazing at having a go to trace and then independently write their names, starting each letter in the correct place! Please keep this one at home 🙂

Thank you to those who have brought in wellies for our outdoor learning. If you have not done this yet then please bring in some named wellies to keep in school on our wellie rack.

I hope everyone has a well deserved rest over the half term and we look forward to seeing you back in school on Tuesday 1st November 🙂

p.s … here are the children wearing their marvellous hats that they decorated with pictures and drawings of all the things they love 🙂

Numbers!

In maths we have been focusing on a number every week! So far we have explored 0,1,2 and 3! We represent these numbers in many ways including writing the numeral, dots on a dice or domino, counting objects, drawing pictures, counting the sides/corners of shapes and so much more! See if you can spot these numbers at home or whilst out and about!

Nature

Grayling Foundation LOVE being outdoors! In our first few weeks we went and explored the garden area where we found pumkins, beans, mint, sweetcorn and many other foods growing! We have also visited the chickens and hope to go and feed them soon. On our foundation playground, we love to hunt for bugs and recently found some beautiful webs!

PE

We have been having so much fun in our PE lessons! We try so hard to use our ears to listen to the instructions, our eyes to navigate space and our bodies for moving! We have loved learning how to play ‘Beans’ and ‘Jack Frost’!

Welcome and Phonics!

Hello and welcome to the Grayling Foundation blog! Please check back regularly for posts about what we have been learning and things to talk about at home 🙂

This week is an assessment week for phonics so we are not learning any new phonemes. Here is the video for last week’s phonemes for you to watch and join in with at home…. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8SxUrcs1maI

Over the half term, please look back through your phoneme book to revise all the phonemes we have learnt (blue dot: m- l)
