Happy Easter!

Grayling loved their special hot cross bun treat this week. They independently spread the butter and jam and of course ate it all up! Fabulous instruction writing too! In assembly we talked about the Easter story and the children learnt about why we have a cross on the buns. They also learnt about why we have eggs…. we hope they enjoy their little chocolate and bubble gift!

We said a sad goodbye to Miss Stermi and Nohan today but wish them all the best for their future adventures in New Zealand and Australia!

Please see home learning sheets in bookbags (no reading books) and some lovely Easter bunny cards 🙂

Have a lovely Easter break everyone!

This week…

Grayling Foundation have had a busy week with 2 different visitors! On Tuesday, Amanda from Samurai Kickboxing joined us in our PE lessons to teach us some moves and listening skills through games. Today, Steve the Spaceman joined us for an assembly where he shown us a real space suit, lots of photos and a model rocket!

During our maths learning this week, we have explored measuring lengths. We have used rulers, paperclips, feet and cubes to find out how long or short items are. We also discovered the tallest and shortest child and adult in our class!

Grayling have thought lots about how to look after our planet. We have recorded each day how we travel to school and are trying to walk, scoot or cycle instead of using the car. (parking a little further away and then walking is great too!) We also turned off all the lights, computers, ipads and interactive whiteboards on Wednesday for Power Down Day. Grayling took this very seriously!

Have a lovely weekend everyone.

World Book Day & PE…

Wow! What fantastic potatos Grayling Foundation brought to school today! Well done to all of you for being so creative and sharing some of your favourite stories with us.

Today we have enjoyed listening to lots of stories and drawing our favourite characters.

We also played some team games in PE and talked about the importance of congratulating the winners and cheering everyone on.

This week…

Our learning this week has included AB and ABC patterns in maths. An AB pattern has 2 different colours, shapes, pictures etc that repeat and an ABC has three!

In PE we have been learning different ways to pass a ball to eachother like rolling, throwing and bouncing. We love getting competitive in the team game at the end!

Space learning has continued by creating alien playdough, junk model walkie talkies, writing space facts and lots more!

We finished today with some tapping/clapping along to music and finding out how many syllables are in our names 🙂

Happy weekend everyone!

Space!

This week we have started our new learning all about Space! We watched a video about an alien crash landing at school a few years ago and Miss Baker shown us some of the items she kept like alien goo, moon rocks, plugs, nuts and bolts!

We have found out lots about what happens in Space and how astronauts live in the space stations. Here are some cool videos to watch at home…

Get up and join in with this song and dance all about the planets…

Dinosaur dome!

Today we finished our dinosaur learning with a special visit from Neil and his dinosaur dome! Before we went into the dome, the children impressed Neil with their dinosaur knowledge. We also had a look at some real dinosaur fossils, bones and poo! Inside the dome it was dark but magical as dinos came to life across the walls! We looked at different landscapes, under water, how dinosaurs hunted and how they become extinct! Well done to all of Grayling Foundation for your super listening ears and fantastic learning.

Happy half term everyone!

Dinosaurs and Number day!

We have had a busy time this week practising our gymnastic skills in PE, creating paper plate dinos, exploring real fossils, dressing up as numbers and so much more!

Special thanks to Jon from Sustrans for coming into school to read us a story about a giraffe on a bicycle during our Thursday assembly and special thanks to all of you for your kind donations for Number day!

Dinosaurs!

We have begun our new learning this week all about Dinosaurs! The children have been amazing at talking about facts they already know and posing questions for our research. Here is a virtual library for you to enjoy dinosaur stories, facts and drawings at home. Please click on the download link below and then you can click on the books and dinosaurs.

We have been learning about addition using the part part whole method this week in maths. During lockdown we created vidoes to help with this learning at home. Please ignore the introduction but enjoy the maths video below…

Thank you so much for joining us for our stay and phonics session on Wednesday.

Have a lovely weekend!

This week…

Here is the phonics video to match our learning from this week. We are nearly at the end of our phoneme books so keep going!

The past 2 weeks, all of Foundation have attended their very own assemblies on Thursday mornings. So far, we have talked about our school value ‘integrity’, what it means and listened to some examples through stories and songs. Here are the songs to listen to at home…

Have a great weekend! I wonder what new learning we will begin on Monday….
